Ann Curry, Michelle Collins, and More TV Co-Hosts You Didn’t Know Were Fired

Michelle Collins was fired from The View.

Michelle started as a guest host before being promoted full time during season 19. However, she was let go just a year after starting, officially joining the "one seasoner" club. According to Variety, producers wanted the show to go in a more political direction and weren't happy with Michelle's lack of knowledge on certain issues.

Joan Lunden was fired from Good Morning America.

Although she co-hosted the show for 20 years, she was forced out in 1997 for being "too old."

“The words are, ‘We’ve decided to make a change on the show,’” Joan said in 2015. “So, you know, they found a 30-year-old version of me.”

Joy Behar was fired from Good Morning America.

Before hosting The View, Joy worked as a receptionist/producer on Good Morning America, but apparently she wasn't a very good one and was eventually sacked.

"I was devastated [about being fired]," she said in 2013. "But I actually expected it. I wasn’t really doing the job. I would take these long lunch hours and go see a shrink. I wasn’t really paying attention. So they fired me."

Marc Summers was fired from Hollywood Squares.

Although he's known these days for hosting shows like Double Dare and Unwrapped, in 2014, Marc revealed that he was fired from hosting Hollywood Squares before he even began!

“I was signed up to do the ‘Hollywood Squares’ version that Tom Bergeron actually did," he said. "The next thing I knew, I was fired before we even got started, supposedly because my reputation was that I was difficult to work with because of the OCD."

Kevin Newman was fired from Today.

In 1998, Kevin co-hosted the show only for a year before being fired in a "hasty phone call."

“We got [a call] saying we were being replaced by Diane Sawyer and Charlie [Gibson],” he said in 2010. He called the whole experience "scarring."

Fred Willard was fired from Market Warriors.

In 2012, Fred was fired from the PBS competition show after he was arrested for lewd conduct at an adult movie theater. However, the firing didn't hamper his career. He still appears in numerous TV shows as both an actor and a host.

Pat O'Brien was fired from The Insider.

The entertainment reporter was let go in 2008 after he sent out a staff email that criticized his co-hosts. At the end of the email, he wrote "I’ll get killed for this," and he was apparently right. A rep from the show soon confirmed that he was fired.

Phil Donahue was fired from Donahue.

After The Phil Donahue Show went off the air in 1996, Phil moved on to MSNBC where he hosted Donahue in 2002. However, he was fired in 2003 for expressing an opinion about the war in Iraq. "They were terrified of the antiwar voice," Donahue said in 2013.

Ann Curry was fired from Today.

When Ann was booted from co-hosting the Today show in 2015, it was so controversial it made national news. According to New York, NBC execs got rid of Ann because they thought she didn't have good chemistry with fellow co-host Matt Lauer and because of sagging ratings.

Billy Bush was fired from Today.

When a tape of Donald Trump leaked in 2016 of him bragging to Billy about how he lewdly treats women, angry viewers petitioned for Billy to get canned. They got their wish in October when the co-host was sent packing.

Rich Sanchez was fired from CNN.

In 2011, the CNN reporter and anchor was fired after making a comment about Jews on a radio show. Rick would later describe his fallout with CNN as "traumatic."

Tamar Braxton was fired from The Real.

After co-hosting the show for three years, she was let go in 2016 in a very controversial firing. While feuding with her co-stars on Twitter, she has spoken out to say she still doesn't know why she was fired.
