Tracy Morgan Has a New Outlook on Life Following His Near-Fatal Car Accident — “I Feel Great!”

He’s back and it’s official — Tracy Morgan has a new outlook on life. The 48-year-old comedian recently caught up with Closer Weekly to talk about how far he’s come since his near-fatal car accident in 2014 and why he now believes that everything happens for a reason.

“I’m here now, and I’m going to do it right,” he exclusively revealed at the Turner Networks
TCA Summer Press Tour for his TBS show, The Last O.G. “I was a believer before, but spiritually the accident brought me closer to [God].”

“I feel great,” Tracy — who relied on the love of wife, Megan Wollover, to see him through the traumatic experience — continued. He previously revealed that he battled depression after the crash and even contemplated suicide. “My thoughts — I was in a very dark place. I was sitting right here, contemplating suicide. I couldn’t walk,” he admitted to Rolling Stone. “It’s gonna take more than 18 wheels for me to get out of here. I have to raise my girl, raise my wife, raise my family.”

Tracy suffered a broken leg, nose, and ribs in addition to a traumatic brain injury when a Walmart truck slammed into a limo van carrying the star and his friends on the New Jersey Turnpike in June 2014. His friend, James McNair, was killed in the accident. Tracy himself spent 10 days in the ICU following the crash. He then entered a rehab facility to undergo extensive physical therapy.

Since then, Tracy has been focused on his new show and his family. He and Megan tied the knot in August 2015 and welcomed their four-year-old daughter, Maven, in July 2013. We’re so glad he’s doing better now!
