Friends and Family Say Goodbye to ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ Star Tim Conway at Funeral — Pics

Tim married his wife, Charlene Conway, in 1984. They did not have any children. “People say that nothing is perfect and truly nothing ever is,” Charlene told People. “But we had a marriage that … I feel that the two of us were meant to be together. We were just one mind and heart. And it was 35 years of heaven. I know that sounds cheesy, but it’s true.”

Tim was a proud dad to five sons though — Corey, Jaime, Pat, Shawn and Tim Jr. — and a daughter — Kelly — whom he shares with ex-wife Mary Anne Dalton.

“Tim instill[ed] in the family, all the kids, the grandkids, that humor does help us deal with horrific experiences,” Charlene explained about her husband’s comedic career to the outlet. “It’s a way out. For him, it was a way out. It didn’t mean he felt or grieved any less. That was his outlet for it.”

Aside from starring on The Carol Burnett Show from 1967 until 1978, Tim gained even more notoriety when he played Bucky Bright on 30 Rock.

“Tim’s been out of the limelight for four, five years, but I’m just amazed at the outpouring of love from his fans and everybody,” Charlene admitted about America’s reaction to Tim’s death. “And I’m so proud of him, and the man that he was.”

Plenty of kinds words were said once news of Tim’s death was revealed, including one from his costar Vicki Lawrence.

“Hysterical, crazy, bold, fearless, humble, kind, adorable — all synonyms for Tim Conway,” a rep for the Mama’s Family actress exclusively told Closer Weekly in a statement. “I am so lucky to ever have shared a stage with him. Harvey [Korman] and Tim are together again [and] the angels are laughing out loud tonight.”

Legend Bob Newhart also sent a beautiful message. “We lost one of the greatest today — Tim Conway may be the greatest ever!” gushed the 89-year-old, who starred alongside the late actor in 1982’s Dick and Tim. “I will never forget on an Emmy Awards when Harvey Korman won and Tim did not. Harvey went up to accept his award, Tim went up and stood right next to him, not saying a word. Ginnie [Bob’s wife] and I will miss him greatly!!”

Bob echoed his thoughts in a statement to Fox News. “Ginnie and I lost a dear friend with Tim’s passing. He was one of the greatest, if not the greatest,” The Bob Newhart Show star said. “I will always remember our regular Tuesday dinners together with Tim and Sharkey (Charlene), Dick and Dolly Martin, Don and Barbara Rickles, Mike and Marylou Connors, Eydie and Steve Lawrence and Ginnie and me,” he continued. “No one should be allowed to laugh that much! We will miss him greatly.”

It is clear that Tim was completely beloved. May he rest in peace.
