Thomas Rhett Suffers Broken Ankle After Falling at Nashville Concert: ‘I Gave My All’

Thomas Rhett has kept a smile on his face despite suffering a serious injury during a recent concert appearance. The country superstar opened up about taking a serious fall that left him leaving the venue in a wheelchair.

Thomas, 35, shared a video on his Instagram page that began with him being pushed in a wheelchair by his wife, Lauren Akins. She laughed at something he said while wheeling him out of the concert venue.

The video then flashed forward to 30 minutes earlier when singer Forrest Frank‘s brought Thomas out onto the stage to sing the duet “Nothing Else” during his April 13 concert at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The “Gone Country” crooner surprised concertgoers when a spotlight captured him sitting in an empty section of seats.

As Thomas made his way down to the stage with his microphone in hand, he greeted fans in the stands. Unfortunately, on his way down the last flight of stairs toward the stage, he ended up taking a fall. Two crew members helped him up and he continued to make his way onto the stage with a bit of a limp. He walked up a ramp and over to Forrest, 30, and gave him a handshake, still visibly shaken up from the fall but focused on performing like a true champion.

Despite the injury, Thomas still managed to get through the performance, jumping around on his non-injured foot and dancing around the stage. The video then flashed forward to Thomas sitting in the wheelchair with a cast on his injured ankle.

“Every now and then you just have to sing at a Forrest Frank concert and break your ankle in the process,” he said with a smile. “I gave my all for Tennessee tonight.”

Lauren, 35, then wheeled him away as they both kept a positive attitude about what transpired.

In the comments section of the Instagram video, fans praised Thomas for handling the injury with ease.

“You handled this like a champ!!!! Seriously man you’re the real deal,” one person commented on the post.

“I was in the pit and had zero idea. This is wild. Respect,” another commenter wrote.

“And just another example of how great of an entertainer you are!! Prayers for a speedy recovery!” a third comment said.

“Oh my goodness!!! I’m so sorry!! You absolutely made my sons night last night!! He burst into tears and was so happy!! I will dm you a video!!” another person wrote.

“Oh no!!!! You most definitely pushed through that! Get to feeling better soon!” said another in a comment.

“Get better quick! Good thing you have lots of little nurses,” another wrote, referencing Thomas and Lauren’s four daughters, Willa Gray, 9, Ada James, 6, Lennon Love, 5, and Lillie Carolina, 3.

In another video from the concert, Thomas appeared with Forrest on stage barefoot during rehearsal, jumping around and practicing their song. The video then transitioned to the pair on stage during the concert performing just like they had practiced after Thomas injured his ankle.

Forrest captioned the post, “Last night was INSANE.”
