Princess Eugenie Reportedly Won’t Sign a Prenup Before Her Royal Wedding (Neither Did Harry and Meghan!)
In less than two months, Princess Eugenie will wed Jack Brooksbank on Oct. 12, 2018 — but will she sign a prenup before her big day? According to Cosmopolitan, the young royal will most likely follow in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s footsteps and won’t sign any premarital paperwork.
“Historically, members of the royal family have not had them,” royal author Ingrid Seward previously told People. “They are more popular in the US — it’s just not a British thing.”
Eugenie, 28, will also reportedly not sign any papers because the royal family’s assets actually belong to Queen Elizabeth and, when the monarch passes away, the money will be passed on to the next heir to the throne, aka Eugenie’s uncle Prince Charles.
However, after Meghan and Harry tied the knot in May 2018, royal biographer Duncan Larcombe interestingly told Town & Country, “You wouldn’t need a prenuptial agreement to stop Windsor Castle from being cut in half in the event they divorce.”
In reality, Eugenie is probably too excited about her upcoming wedding to Jack to even spend time thinking about a prenup. During a recent interview with British Vogue, she opened up about her wedding planning thus far. “It’s very nerve-wracking because you want it to be perfect,” she said. “But then you realize that you’re going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters.”
Eugenie’s mom, Sarah Ferguson, has also allegedly been helping her daughter organize her big day. “[Although] it is very much Princess Eugenie and Jack’s day, and they are leading the planning, Fergie is very involved,” a royal insider previously told People.
Eugenie has reportedly already sent out hundreds of invitations for her royal wedding and a few celebs that are expected to attend are George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, and David Beckham and Victoria Beckham. We can’t wait for Eugenie’s nuptials in October!
