Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding Choir Just Scored a Huge Record Deal

The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be over, but it’s definitely not forgotten! Millions of people from around the world viewed the royal couple get married and listened to The Kingdom Choir sing a beautiful cover of Ben E King’s song “Stand By Me” during their ceremony.

The gospel choir did such a great job singing at the royal wedding that their talent unsurprisingly didn’t go unnoticied. Soon after they made their debut on TV, the choir’s version of “Stand By Me” rose to the top of the Hot Gospel Songs chart in the US. And now, The Kingdom Choir has gotten a big-time record deal from Sony Music and is set to release their first album this fall, Now to Love reported on Wednesday, July 25.

In a new interview with Reuters, choir leader Karen Gibson revealed that she never thought she would receive so many opportunities after performing at the royal wedding. “We really didn’t expect that and we really just thought that we would have a lovely time at the wedding and maybe have a bit of a platform, but then this happens,” she confessed. “I would never have thought it in a million years.”

As America’s hottest new choir, Gibson said she now has to decide what the next steps will be for the London-based group. On Facebook, the choir — which has been together for 20 years — decribes themselves as “an outstanding and extraordinary group of singers drawn from various Christian traditions in the South East area of England.”

And with such a unique sound in gospel, every member of the choir knows that the sky is the limit! “We’re all so excited,” Gibson gushed. “It’s a dream!”
