British Magazine Names Prince George One of “Britain’s Best Dressed” for 2018!

Not only is Prince George the future King of England — he’s also a trendsetter! The British magazine Tatler just named the five-year-old royal one of “Britain’s Best Dressed” for 2018. You go, George!

According to The Evening Standard, the publication praised Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s son for his “Christoper Robin chic,” which, of course, refers to the shorts, long socks, and jumpers he so often wears. Such a fashionisto!

But believe it or not, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dress George in only shorts for an interesting reason. “It’s a very English thing to dress a young boy in shorts,” William Hanson once told Harper’s Bazaar. “Trousers are for older boys and men, whereas shorts on young boys is one of those silent class markers that we have in England.”

He continued, “Although times are (slowly) changing, a pair of trousers on a young boy is considered quite middle class — quite suburban. And no self-respecting aristocrat or royal would want to be considered suburban. Even the Duchess of Cambridge.”

However, George sported a pair of trousers at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding on May 19, but apparently, that’s the last we’ll ever see of that for the next three years…  

“The usual custom is that a boy graduates to trousers around eight years old. This is, historically, perhaps due to the practice of ‘breeching,’ which dates back to the sixteenth century,” Hanson explained. 

To no surprise, George isn’t the only best-dressed member of the royal family. Tatler also added Meghan, Kate, Queen Elizabeth, and Camilla Parker Bowles to the prestigious list. Who do you think is the best dresser in the royal family? We’re honestly torn…
