Prince Charles’ Former Friend Slams Meghan Markle and Her Family for Being “Frightfully Common”

How rude! In a new interview, one of Prince Charles‘ former friends from Eton College candidly opened up about Meghan Markle and her family — and held nothing back in his comments about Prince Harry‘s new wife.

When asked by the Daily Mail what he thought of Meghan’s family, Nicky Haslam quipped the Markles are “frightfully common.” He continued, “The royals probably don’t quite know how to deal with them.” Haslam also said Meghan’s father Thomas Markle‘s last-minute decision to skip his daughter’s royal wedding was probably a blessing in disguise. “It would have been awful if that huge lump had been there,” he said.

“One person who wasn’t common was her mother,” Haslam later remarked of Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland. During his interview, Haslam additionally revealed his thoughts about Meghan’s Givenchy wedding gown. “I didn’t very much like her dress. It didn’t fit, among other things. It should have been made of thinner stuff, it seemed to be made of concrete,” he shared.

Sadly, Charles’ old pal isn’t the only person who is a bit down on Meghan. In Touch Weekly recently revealed that Meg’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, has been feeling “left out” since the Duchess of Sussex officially joined the royal family in mid-May. “[Kate] spent years working on her image as ‘the perfect royal,’ and Meghan is stealing her thunder. They’re barely on speaking terms. The popularity contest has caused a lot of friction at the palace,” a royal source revealed.
