Kate Hudson Defends Her Decision To Be WW’s Newest Ambassador: ‘My Struggle Is Not In Weight Loss’

On Dec. 17, 2018, Kate Hudson revealed that she had signed on to become WW’s newest ambassador, a move that not many people were happy about at all. And the actress is now responding to the criticism.

The Oscar nominated actress showed up to Today on Thursday, Jan. 10 to explain why she decided to work with WW, formerly known as Weight Watchers. “My struggle is not in weight loss,” the 39-year-old said. “Mine is about staying healthy, trying to stay focused and balanced.” Kate continued, “One of the things about this re-imagining of WW is it’s not just about weight, it’s about wellness. To me, it’s all about support. … Everyone’s looking to how do you get motivated, how do you stay motivated?”

Kate also made sure to share what exactly WW is, saying, “It’s a community for people to understand their health better, holistically.” She further explained, “It’s about, ‘Where do we go to practice mindfulness? … Where do we go when we fall off the wagon and we need to get up again?’ … WW is not a diet; it’s really a lifestyle.”

Goldie Hawn‘s daughter continued, “You could be on the Mediterranean diet, you could be a vegan, you could be anything; and you can be a part of the community. It’s a fun thing to be a part of.”

Kate, who recently had a daughter named Rani Rose, took it to Instagram in November to share with her fans that she was aiming to lose 25 pounds. Although, during the interview, Kate revealed that she may not even be done having children, as her boyfriend, Danny Fujikawa, may want another.

“I always thought I’d have four to six kids,” Kate said. “Then I thought, ‘Oh, maybe I’m done.’ Then I met Danny and I was like, ‘All right, I have to pop them out for him.’ … If it works out that way. He needs a boy, right? His own boy.”

Aside from Rani, Kate also has a 15-year-old boy son named Ryder who she shares with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and a 7-year-old son named Bingham that she welcomed while with Muse frontman, Matt Bellamy.
