Halle Berry Teaches Son Maceo, 5, About Acceptance By Letting Him Experience ‘Love’ and ‘Unity’
It seems like Halle Berry doesn’t need a manual when it comes to teaching son Maceo Robert Martinez to be a good person. The John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum actress recently opened up about how she is educating her 5-year-old child about acceptance.
“There’s nothing to explain,” the 52-year-old beauty revealed to Us Weekly at the Los Angeles Pride Festival and Parade in the West Hollywood neighborhood on Friday, June 7. “My job is to bring him down here, let him experience the love, the unity and discover on his own what this is all about. I think that’s what my job is. It’s not to mind-lead, it’s to lead an experience. [Maceo can] be who he is and make up his own mind and … develop his own sensibilities.”
Halle sweetly added, “My job is to expose him to all walks of life, and to all people.”
The brunette beauty documented the celebration on social media, even including an adorable pic of her little bundle of joy waving a rainbow flag while wearing matching colorful bracelets. “Little man enjoying some fun in the sun,” she captioned the Instagram story.
Among tons of other pics from the parade that she shared, the Monster’s Ball actress also reposted a video that the official L.A. Pride Instagram shared of Halle smiling and dancing in the crowd. The mom of two donned a cute white T-shirt that read “Love Is The Answer” paired with jeans, sunglasses and a white fedora.
Prior to the festive outing, Halle took to Instagram and shared a sexy and supportive photo in honor of Pride Month. “Standing tall for everyone to have the right to live and love out loud! Happy #Pride, everyone! #Pride2019,” the Academy Award-winning star wrote in the caption of a pic using the rainbow filter.
Besides being mama to Maceo — shared with ex-husband Olivier Martinez — she also is the mom to her 11-year-old daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. The Catwoman actress opened up in March about what it was like becoming a mom over the age of 40.
“You’re so much more ready to be a parent after 40 than when you’re 20,” Halle exclusively told Closer Weekly, offering words of support for other women of a certain age who are considering motherhood. “You know yourself better.”
