DIY Friday: Craft a Decorative Emerald Isle Tabletop Garden for St. Patrick’s Day!

For this week’s DIY Friday, Garden Designer Shirley Bovshow visited the ‘Home & Family’ set to demonstrate how to create a decorative Emerald Isle Tabletop Garden — just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!

Follow the instructions below to craft your own DIY Emerald Isle Tabletop Garden!

Materials:

• An assortment of mosses (sheet, cushion, rock cap or reindeer)

• Large container

• Potting soil

• Emerald green glass boulder

• Stones and pebbles

• Small glass container (to hide mister pump)

• Mister Maker machine (small)

• Twigs to make “tree”

• Fairy or St. Patrick’s figurines for holiday theme

• Spray bottle with distilled water to water the moss

Directions:

1. Fill your large container with soil

2. Set your glass boulder in middle of planter

3. Make a deep hole to bury your glass container, leaving 1/2 an inch lip over the soil level

4. Insert Mister Maker into glass container and add water, cover with plastic to keep soil out

5. Plant mosses, using different types to create a natural effect.

6. Add small stones and cover with sheet moss to create raised, undulating hills

7. Plant small fern or other plant

8. Insert tree stems to stand in as a tree

9. Detail with St. Patrick’s Day and fairy decor.

10. Switch on Mister and Maker and enjoy the show!
