Anthony Bourdain’s Series ‘Parts Unknown’ Is Staying on Netflix for “Months to Come”

News broke on June 12 that celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain tragically took his own life in Paris, but Netflix quickly jumped in to make sure his legacy lives on. Anthony was the star of the CNN series, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, that premiered on the streaming service in 2013, and explored different parts of the world using the local cuisine as a focal point.

However, back in May, Netflix announced which movies and shows were going to end in June, and Parts Unknown had made the list — it was scheduled leave on June 16. But, after Anthony’s death, fans became incredibly interested in not only his life, but also the shows he created. A petition was started on Change.org to keep Parts Unknown on Netflix, and it garnered almost 7,000 signatures.

So, just hours after the world found out about Anthony’s passing and fans created this petition, Netflix changed their tune. The streaming service announced in the late afternoon on June 12, that they would extend the show’s life. “Some fans have noticed that Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown was scheduled to come off Netflix US on June 16,” Netflix tweeted. “As of today, we’ve extended our agreement that will keep Parts Unknown on the service for months to come.”

Although Netflix didn’t exactly specify how many more months Parts Unknown would stay on the service, it’s clear that the show isn’t going away any time soon. Anthony’s friends and family have yet to comment on Netflix’s decision.
